I smashed the tubing for my I-struts using a method similar to the one Rick Bennett uses and can be seen on the Kansas City Dawn Patrol's web page www.kcdawnpatrol.org/Oval_Press.htm. I didn't weld nuts to the chanel because the 2 1/2" tubing used for the Special I-struts will be 3 1/2" wide when smashed and would have hit the bolts on the sides of the 3" channel. I used some scrap pieces of 1 1/2"x1/8" steel angle at least 6" long with holes drilled about 4 1/2" apart as cross clamps. I used 3/8" all-thread and two nuts instead of bolts. This worked slick as could be. See Cabanes | |
